David Husby graduated from the Cleveland Institute of Music with his Bachelor of Music degree under the tutelage of John Clouser, principal bassoonist of The Cleveland Orchestra.

He is a native of Roseville, MN and credits his early success to Matt Bertrand, previously second bassoonist in the South Dakota Symphony. During high school, he performed regularly with the Minnesota Youth Symphonies and Greater Twin Cities Youth Symphonies. Well versed as an orchestral and chamber musician, he has appeared as a substitute for the Fort Wayne Philharmonic, South Dakota Symphony, and has participated in the Kent/Blossom Music Festival, National Orchestral Institute, Chautauqua Music Festival, Brevard Music Festival, and Birch Creek Music Camp.

In addition to performing, he received his Band Instrument Repair Diploma from MN State College SE Technical in Red Wing, MN and most recently has done repair work for bassoonists at Fox Products, the world’s largest manufacturer of bassoons and oboes, based in South Whitley, Indiana.
